Suffering from Depression or feeling low as well as counselling, CBT, meditation, yoga and other therapies diet can play a massive role in feeding your brain chemistry here's some tips

  1. Keep your brain’s fuel supply stable = eat low GL foods and eat every 2-3 hrs. examples wholegrain bread with a boiled egg, yogurt & fruit, crackers and cream cheese. Bananas & oats are great also. Have 3 meals and 2-3 snacks in between

  2. Go out in fresh air every day for a short walk, if you cant face going out open your windows to let fresh air in!

  3. Ensure you’re getting enough omega 3 EFAs by eating a serving of oily fish 2-3 times a week, nuts & seeds

  4. Depression is also linked to B vitamin, magnesium & zinc deficiencies. - check with a Nutritionist if your low in these and whether you need a supplement and at what level

  5. Zinc rich foods include fish, crab, oysters, dark meat on poultry, nuts, seeds, pulses.

  6. Magnesium is found in oat bran, nuts, seeds, green leafy vegetables
